Common Issues Revolving 'Enforcement Terminations'

Dating back from pre-2019, Roblox always had bugs related to accounts being moderated under the Note: You created or used an account to avoid an enforcement action taken against another account. Recently, there has been a spark on the number of incidents related to people having their account terminated banned with this reasoning

The main reason for that is, Roblox has been taking measurements on any account who used the same IP, E-Mail Address or Phone Number as another who was previously punished on the platform with the same information, whoever, multiple users are issuing problems related to the moderation taken against their accounts. Majors examples can be but are not limited to:

  • Ban Date being over 1 month old, making the termination unappealable
  • Moderation not being responsible enough to reverse certain measurements
  • Mistakenly not taking needed actions implied on the e-mail

The Biggest Problem related to this is the User Experience.
One of the most notable cases of someone who used a public network and got punished was user @Linkmon99, who in July 2019 had his account terminated for being “someone else alternative accounts”. Whatsoever it is not uncommon to see users like @pigpigpigpigpigplon who have reported being terminated for already discussed reasons

Expected behavior

Roblox should not take early-measurements only accounts exclusively based in their IP login.
It is enforced that the user shall only be banned if he committed something illegal on against the community standards, even though using a public connection can already be harmful to the user in question, threatening the person with permanent actions in their account for simply accessing the game on a public wi-fi is a bullet on the foot.

The thread you linked doesn’t show a user being enforcement banned because of IP. Both him and his brother had the same email so it’s no surprise he was also terminated.

That’s a null point. My brother and I signed up to ROBLOX as children, when a guardian email was required. My brother doesn’t play anymore - his account was terminated retrospectively for an asset he uploaded in 2018. My account was terminated at the exact same time to the minute. There is no way I could have logged in to “avoid an enforcement action taken against another account”.

The fact remains that the alt-detection system is not up to scratch and is catching far too many innocent users in its net.

Forgive me if this is not what you’re implying, but I don’t understand this attitude of needing to defend ROBLOX at every opportunity on the basis that I “should’ve known better”. Look no further than a recent BBC investigation into how ROBLOX regularly ignores concerned parents and David Baszucki’s comments essentially implying that if you have concerns, then that’s your own problem.

I had no idea enforcement bans existed until my account of 13 years was hit with one. Any human moderator with an ounce of rational thinking would quickly conclude that my brother and I were separate users.

Regardless of all that, my brother is still unaware what the asset he was terminated for even is, because it was uploaded over 6 years ago. It may have been an innocent asset, but we’ll never know because the moderation “team” doesn’t engage with users.

Until these issues are addressed, I’d encourage users at the very least to avoid public wifi, separate your account emails, and more importantly stop giving ROBLOX your money.

Hey Tutz,

Thanks for the mention. Sadly I’ve made no progress on getting my account back. Luckily the ban hasn’t caught up to my DevForum account yet so I can still engage on here

The more pressure ROBLOX receives for its moderation / user engagement the better. Hoping you gain some traction here.

This should actually be a high prioriety for Roblox Staff and not ignoring it as a more “low prioriety” reported issues. When looking in #help-and-feedback:platform-usage-support, you can see this has been a huge issue with people getting terminated and are unable to get their account restored

I have linked some topics i could find regarding this:

They are probably a thousand more but i wasn’t able to find more as of now. It’s not only IP bans but also general sibling cases where appeals also most of the time don’t get accepted. Another issue is if the ban is delayed like you get terminated 1 year later of the original termination then you also can’t appeal because the reviewed date is too old

This is a huge issue and you can’t connect to public spaces wifi without risk getting punished

Those random bans doesn’t even seem like IP based, my main account is currently fine and only 2 of my development alts were affected by this, which is strange because I don’t remember using them on a public WIFI or with a VPN.

They are most randomest bans of all time.

Haven’t been engaged on this for a few months. Just realised my case got mentioned in a KreekCraft video lol

Im sorry for not linking another case of this happening to an user by their IP but it isn’t uncommon for that to happen.
I reported this as a bug because it really sounds off users being terminated for no reason whatsoever and having their accounts unnapealable

Yeah, it’s truly BS. My account is id verified, 10 years old (and active for all 10), has thousands of US dollars spent on it, and yet ROBLOX punishes me for something I didn’t do.

Hey everyone, thanks for the report, I’m sending this to the team

Has anything been fixed/changed? There are still alot of people (90% of them are actually innocent) being affected by this with only 30 days to appeal for it.

Right, I’ve been hit with this kind of false ban early Saturday morning and I see a bunch of people from the /r/ROBLOXBans subreddit community getting false banned for this as well.

It’s so bad that some kid got their whole school banned by purposely getting their alt terminated while on school wifi; https://www.reddit.com/r/ROBLOXBans/comments/1k2jo3a/one_kid_got_my_whole_schools_robloxs_accounts/

These type of bans should not be based on IP… we have siblings that play on the same IP or same device.

At this point, I think roblox should just actually discontinue the enforcement ban or just be more lenient with appeals if the cause of the enforcement ban is just something tame and not straight up erpers/predators. Maybe even limit AI moderation ban to days rather than instant termination.

This is it. People who want to do bad things on the platform will easily bypass this. All they need to do is fire up a VPN and create another account. Meanwhile, innocent folks like us who’ve invested years, time and money into our accounts are left in the dark because ROBLOX refuses to adequately respond. It’s been 3 months and I’m still no closer to getting my account back.

The enforcement of “Enforcement Terminations” kind of makes sense, because if an account is terminated, then any alternative accounts linked to it should also be terminated, since they would either belong to the same person or be otherwise closely associated. The preventive measure Roblox is taking here seems pretty reasonable.

If your main account gets terminated, the correct move is to appeal and resolve the issue properly. Also, Roblox has been banned in my country for over 280+ days now — I have been using a public, free VPN every single day to access the platform, and none of my accounts have ever been affected by this. So it’s pretty safe to say this isn’t about just IP association. God knows how many other people connect to the same VPN servers daily, and I’ve been doing this for months with zero problems. Roblox already seems to have caught up with these basic factors.

What I’m seeing is that Roblox mainly takes action when accounts are highly interconnected through different channels — not just IP, but shared device IDs, payment methods, or repeated behavior patterns. Although I’m not 100% sure of the exact scale or thresholds they are using, it’s obvious they’re targeting strong links, not random ones.

As I said, once you solve the situation with the terminated account, everything should naturally clear up, and there won’t be a need for extra measures.
Roblox taking these precautions is actually a good thing in most cases — it protects the platform against ban evasion and other abuses — and no fundamental system changes should be made just because of some individual cases where users can’t even provide solid evidence.

What i’m thinking what happens with the situation of enforcement bans my main account cuervodel1995 got false terminated by creating or using an account to avoid an enforcement action taken against another account i has appeal many times, and roblox didn’t answer me because of my appeal i know isn’t my first appeal, i think, there a possibility is because of the this bug that caused the false completions, I know that roblox has to solve the problem and fix the moderation bug, that’s what the community wants, I know what I want, at least if they have to solve the bans they could do it thanks.
