Filter out Roblox uploaded audio

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to find audio not uploaded by roblox. Because of the thousands of new uploads anything searched will return hundreds of results from roblox instead of any player uploaded audio you may be looking for. There should be the ability to filter out any/all roblox audio from the search results.

Thanks for your consideration.

Much needed.

Why are the Roblox-uploaded results not relevant to your search over the player-uploaded ones? Try to be more specific in the description of your use cases.

I honestly think that doesn’t need to be answered and you’re just nitpicking at anything possible.

I don’t think so – let’s not have an attitude against people who are trying to help you out.

To clarify what I meant: you should explain why the Roblox-uploaded results are not relevant to you, this will make for a stronger feature request in the first place, or staff can discover why you actually want the user-uploaded results.

For example, it might be that you are looking for non-music audio (sound effects) while the Roblox ones are all of music length. In that case a “search by length” or “search by genre” feature may be more appropriate. That’s why you should always clarify why specifically you want a feature.

Search by length would be much appreciated.

Whenever I am searching for SFX, there’s almost always some 5 minute long song instead of the actual sound effect.

Plus, people are really bad at naming and describing their audio in roblox.

Search by length would be great. I hate looking up simple SFX names and getting loud annoying dubstep.

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to find noises, not music, that is relevant to what I need due to the Roblox update adding all of the music. Whenever I search something like “Bicycle Pump” Roblox shows me stuff like “Bicycle (A)”, “Bicycle (B)”, “Pump it (sting)”, and “Pump (5 second)”. As nice as these are for finding music for a game, this isn’t very helpful whenever I want simple noises like “Scissors” or even a tune I’ve heard in a game that I want to use.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because I wouldn’t have to spend large amounts of time looking through every sound In the library to find audio made by players.

Currently, if I am looking for basic effects, such as footsteps, doors, electric shocks, and other FX, I will almost always have 90% of my results be some poor song made by Roblox, often completely with the same names as each other. It becomes a 10-15 minute ordeal to find suitable sounds because I have to scroll so long just for another 10 playermade audios. A way this could be implemented is search by length, or ability to block out certain player’s content.

I agree with OP. it’d be nice to have an option to hide Roblox-uploaded audios. I’m speaking specifically on the matter of songs (I don’t deal with sound effects).

There isn’t anything particularly wrong with the audios uploaded by Roblox and there is a large selection of uploaded audios. I simply would like to see what other people have uploaded to the site. I feel as if the purpose of showing me the uploader of the audios is pointless if the only thing that I’m getting with my search is Roblox.

While sure, there may be user error involved due to using search terms that are not specific enough, I’m looking for a general vibe of music, Lo-Fi. Why does country-sounding music come up in the search? Why does elevator music come into my search? I believe that users will be much more accurate at tagging their music in order to reach a broader audience that is looking for a specific sound.

Additionally, this can help with reporting inappropriate audios that may have bypassed the upload checks. Just a small upside to the original request.

I know it’s less effective but you may always try searching through third-party catalog partner libraries. I’ll drop some below:

But I agree, there should be a way to filter out Roblox-created audio.

It’s been six years and this is still a problem. It’s really annoying (fun) and time consuming (intuitive) to have to look through 60 music stings and clips. Even when you set the length down to 0-10 seconds you still get too many of these useless stock music sounds.

I wouldn’t have known any of these had I not went to the dev forum and posted about this. Perhaps if there was a place where all the third-party partners were listed and I can choose the search through their libraries (i.e. Roblox Library, Monstercat Library, Clippsly Library, User-Uploaded Library, etc) that would be much more helpful.

Sadly there is no option to bulk search couple creators at once, but would be nice to see it.

This needs to be added. I search something like “Amogus” and I get “Outrunning - Hit” as a result on the 5th line down.

I will be literally looking up “Volcano” for volcanic eruption noises and get loud dubstep audios published by roblox that doesn’t fit in with what I want

The reason why no one likes roblox audio is that it is:

  1. Always too long
  2. Poorly described
  3. Never looping
  4. Most of it is terrible quality music that is named like a sound effect
  5. Often has a few seconds of silence before the actual sound effect
And all in all is not what people would expect from a sound effect.

This post REQUIRES a bump. this has not been a feature, and it needs to be one.
try searching up “making origami”

“metal impacts”
no, I did NOT ask for hitting my computer with my iron pickaxe noises.

what about just “origami”
