Introducing an Improved Appeals Process

This is a faster way to appeal instead of filling a ticket on the support website. This shows that Roblox is paying some attention to better the appeals. This may seem small but sooner there will be something bigger

I don’t think you understand how long we’ve needed this (thank you) but can you PLEASE start showing the images that get moderated along with the name? I know I’m not the only one who uploads images with some random placeholder name and getting a message saying “Asset: (insert numbers here) and Name: Uovcgdt7oyc” isn’t very helpful lol

I hope y’all understand that unless the appeals team itself gets improved, then it won’t help. This change itself only improves how easy it is to appeal, not the appeal process. We are still missing basic things like a way to show we own a license for a song or copyrighted material.

This is my main issue as you could very well have your ticket looked at by someone who doesn’t care and just instantly denies the appeal or someone who doesn’t understand what you’re saying and sends you the good old “We’re sorry but we’re unable to provide you with any further information or response regarding this inquiry. We encourage you to blah blah blah”

I truly believe this update was made with good intentions but the way the appeals themselves are dealt with needs to be fixed and not the way we send them.

He’s only happy that its supported for assets. There’s only one chance of appeal. Rejected then leave it be, point really is to make the update better. Give 2 chances and improve moderation.

It doesn’t change the moderation criteria and that you will still mostly get bot replies which is what matters the most.

Definitely a step in the right direction. There’s always going to be some false positives on a platform that’s so heavily moderated unfortunately, especially when some of that moderation is automated (which I imagine it is, given some of the things I’ve had moderated), however, streamlining this process and increasing transparency is always welcome.

Is requesting for appeal would let us to have a human review it or something?
I’m looking forward for moderation to improve further though, it’s really a mess nowadays.
Right now we still kinda lack transparency with mod logs and how does appeal go. Maybe then moderation punishments will be more forgiving. No model is perfect and because of how harsh can warnings/bans get, it’s really unforgiving.
I just hope Roblox continues to smooth things out in this category. It’s a trainwreck currently and needs to be addressed.

I really like this new feature. I had access to the feature, but around 20 of my images were deleted. I submitted an appeal request for all of them, and within minutes, all my images were restored.

However, I’m concerned about the quick acceptance of my appeal. It seems suspicious to me that they would restore all assets so swiftly. I worry that this might lead to the circulation of inappropriate content.

What an update!

I really like this step in the right direction with moderation. Let’s hope Roblox keeps going down this path!

that’s the only thing that’s pretty weird about this update, mostly I was glad that I don’t have to write a paragraph to support now and it’ll make the appeal twice as fast. And also, roblox wrote that they would like feedback on this update, maybe that will make them change this. Other than that, I basically liked everything

and I wrote a post without any explanation, why are you jumping to conclusions…

Anyway, let’s just close this up.

I also want to point out something: this update doesn’t benefit shirt and t-shirt creators because it only restores the image, not the actual asset. The asset still remains deleted, which makes this update pointless for them. I believe Roblox Support restores both the image and the asset, so I think we shouldn’t use this new update if that’s the case.

This looks like an amazing update for those unfairly moderated! I would also be happy if we could have a history of our bans/moderations, but this is a very good step in the right direction! Keep up with the W updates, last few weeks were full of W’s

I remember the moderation history page we had back in early 2010s

Another nice thing would be a moderation overhaul, I resort to asking help from my friends with audio uploads, because I’m afraid of getting my account falsely moderated and possibly having my DevEx locked for a few days. I’m not uploading any ToS violating sounds, but the moderation for them is so bad they get falsely moderated. Not only this slows down working on games, but also takes up audio slots. I think for both audios and videos, Roblox should have a system like the following:

  • Players can upload an audio/video without spending any robux, in order to test if roblox allows the asset.
  • If the asset is inappropriate for ToS, players will only receive a warning, without any audio/video slot or currency being taken out of their account
  • If the asset passed, the user can choose if they want to publish this asset (either public or private), which will take away 2,000 robux from their account (if video) and will take up 1 audio or video slot.
  • If the audio/video passed but it’s not published it can’t be heard in any experience, regardless if the publisher is the creator of the experience or no, this to prevent people from uploading assets without paying.
  • If the asset is Inappropriate, and somehow passed moderation, if somebody reports the asset/user, the user will be banned for uploading an inappropriate asset
  • If the user is not id-verified they can’t publish the video/audio as a public asset, and can only use it in their experience, otherwise, they can publish the asset to the marketplace, for everybody’s use

This is what I think would help improving moderation even more and what I currently had a tons of issues with, regarding moderation

Mockups look pretty, but this system in operation and more investment into actually resolving the root - false moderation would result in lesser strain on the appeals process. I’m not one to be moderated heavily, but my god, decal moderation and audio moderation needs drastic improvement.

Strange, because I’ve tried several times and each time it’s been successful. Are you sure you did it properly?

A step in the right direction, but not enough of a step. The issue was never how to appeal, it was a problem with how you moderate in the first place. I hope to see more significant changes to the moderation team.

Following these steps are what guaranteed me success each time I requested it:

You can’t just ask support “I wanna see my moderation history”. You’ll need to follow the appropriate steps in order to do so. They definitely have access to their moderation history, I know because I have gotten it several times in the past.

does this mean goated moderation is soon on roblox? (probably not)

Did they just violate GDPR and ROA to you in practice just telling you they can’t find or access it? LOL. I guess Roblox has room for improvement still. Let’s hope the new update will help sort out people reasons for removal and making it easier what is appealable and not appealable.
