As we announced earlier this year, we are focused on making avatar item creation easier. Today, we’re excited to announce a significant update - creators can now create, publish, and sell Shoes on Marketplace. Users will be able to find Shoes made by the creator community in a dedicated category.
Publishing Shoes on Marketplace
Publishing Shoes on Marketplace is a great way for creators to build a unique virtual fashion brand and connect with users shopping for creative ways to express their identity on Roblox. Previously, creators could only publish Shoes in an adjacent category (such as Pants).
In Studio, select Import 3D under Avatar in the Toolbar and select the files for the shoes you would like to import.
Each individual shoe has a maximum budget of 4000 triangles.
Use the Accessory Fitting tool for each left and right shoe. Each shoe should be their own accessory object.
Name the respective shoe accessories LeftShoeAccessory and RightShoeAccessory
Select both shoe accessories and right-click and select Group as a Model.
Right-click the model and select Save to Roblox.
Select Shoes as the asset category.
Press Submit to upload your shoes to the Marketplace.
Shoes can be published from individual creator accounts, as well as from Communities.
Going forward, non-Limited Shoes will have a publishing advance of 600 Robux, while Limited Shoes will have an advance of 5000 Robux. All paid Shoes will be subject to a dynamic price floor.
We’ve also made a cosmetic change to how Shoes are displayed on Marketplace to improve visibility and showcase unique design elements. Now, both Shoes in the pair will be displayed from above.
All Shoes must now be published in the Shoes category going forward. We plan to automatically migrate existing Shoes to the new category in the near future and will have more information on timing to share soon.
What a surprising update. Although, I think there should be a grace period for anyone who doesn’t happen to see this post. There might be some people needing to catch up on this category being accessible before being punished for the now stated miscategorization. Cool to see this open up though.
This is a cool idea, but shoes always just end up looking bad
Maybe it will get a little better once they release the update that fixes layered clothing items.
They really said everyone eats — shoe creation just got UNLOCKED for ALL creators
Custom kicks? Drip from the toe up?? Say less. I’m about to cook up something so unserious it loops back to genius. Y’all are NOT ready for the fits I’m about to lace up
Shoe game = forever changed.
Creativity = unshackled.
Feet = never naked again.
