The limit isn’t even very low. As I mentioned, I personally have never run into the limit and it is only for uploading content publicly, so unless you are a major creator of content for other people to use (in which case, getting a passport would be worth it), you most likely won’t hit that limit either.
The audio limit for non ID verified users is 10 audios per month, isn’t this a bit exagerated? And talking about important creators, unless you have ID verified and can upload 100 audios or 2000 audios, sometimes it’s pretty hard to get assets for the game. And what about of open-source creators? They can have major impact in the community without having any profit from it…
I’m aware of that now. I thought that it would be a good idea to have another benefit for premium given that premium isn’t worth it these days, but I realized I was wrong.
Once again, scroll through the entire thread to learn the entire story. In the end I admitted I was wrong.
If you couldn’t tell, I am also not ID verified, and yes, open-source creators may have a bit of an issue on occasion, but 10 uploads per month is still a fair amount. To go over this, you would have to be uploading and publishing a new model every 3 days for the whole month. For most people, unless it’s a full-time job or uploading lots of small things for whatever reason, you won’t be going over this limit, and if it is a full-time job or even just a very productive hobby, you can probably save up money for an ID over several months at most.
As for getting audio assets for a game, Roblox’s own audio library is actually great. I used to think it was rather bad but if you go to the actual website of the company that donated music to roblox and use their own search, you can find appropriate music of almost any style for your game to at least temporarily use if not permanently while you wait to be able to upload your own audio. Alternatively, you can ask an ID verified friend or developer to upload it for you.
EDIT: It also seems Roblox is looking into ways to increase the upload limits for unverified users, so for anyone who cannot get their ID and does need higher limits for whatever reason, there will most likely be some way to do that eventually.
Is there any way to enable this now? This is awesome
All of it is nice except for all this ID verification going around. I have a bad feeling about it.
Thank you so much, this is a really good update to the tolbox!
That’s rough. What about us module creators? I have no intent of verifying my ID with Roblox as it seems completely ridiculous to have to do so for a video game.
Good thing about update: Reduces bots reuploading someone’s models with the cost of adding “viruses”
Bad thing about update: ID Verification, I would prefer 6 month old account + DevForum access, as I do not wish to give a corporation my personal info.
These limits are very annoying. As someone who cannot verify their ID as I do not have an ID to verify with, this will make it quite hard to release open-source models to people.
The limits should definitely be raised or at least not dependant on ID verification. There are other factors that can be used to determine if a user is a bot account or not, such as email verification, premium, account age, previous UGC, created games, DevForum trust level, etc.
I disagree with the way Roblox is handling this. It affects the community as well.
Developers shouldn’t need to show someone an ID to prove that they are professional.
I have spent hundreds of dollars on Roblox & have been a Roblox user (on this account) for over 4 years. I have over 700 days visited on the DevForum & have contributed to many large games, that should be enough evidence that I am a “professional” & not a bot. There are many factors Roblox could use to tell if someone is a bot or not, some of which is listed above.
Both mean the same thing & the limitations hurt non-ID verified developers quite a bit, especially those who often make plugins or other open-source resources. It’d be more understandable if the limits were 10 models a day but when its 10 models a month, that hurts quite a lot. Personally I only upload around 3 models a month on average but there are definitely times where I’d need to upload 10+.
I’m tempted to create a site where developers can freely upload RBXM files for other developers to use, without stupid limitations.
Finally! You are implementing things that people have been asking about for years! I’m surprised it took this long, to be honest.
My only gripe is that I think there should be more ways to increase submission limits instead of just through ID verification. But hey, a limit of 10 per month is enough to satisfy most people. It satisfies me, at least.
And even though I hate the spam, I will somewhat miss just how absurdly stupid this looks:
This looks epic!!!
It looks like about creator marketplace view public assets and more they having those having public even more although is verification instead about id, making about decisions publish models
Even more, those even impressive for more content allow using extend marketplace
Yeah i couldn’t telling limits are going to be miss it, at least something can verify ID to accepted making happened to release improvements, most of all there models once again there enough to be people
But good things about bad ID verify to believe all that cost agree for statement, but all fact.
There enough to user bot account right things such community verification etc. but also the if under 13 you cannot access for devforum matter if knows about community they did was not good about verification
This is a great update that was long awaited by the community. I am glad that Roblox have listened.
The only thing I would like to see from this is to be able to see the names and descendants of a model. For example
Model
Part
Script
…just so we know what it is. This way, we are able to view names of the script and where they are to see if they are related to the model.
@ everyone complaining about not wanting to verify ID/not having one
Roblox is investigating alternative verification methods. I don’t think they would use premium as one of them, considering Roblox has actively been removing any developer paywalls and orienting premium towards players. I definitely agree with devex being an alternative method considering you have to give your tax info to get paid which is verification enough imo.
To add to this complaint, many younger devs may not have an ID or a passport.
Already said here, only applies to public assets.
Wow time travel is real
And it doesn’t count for audio. Remove the audio limit for private audio!!
