If they upload it onto the existing Baseplate, it’s not too hard to go to the Templates account, go into the Baseplate game, get the version id, then subtract a couple of numbers and throw it into https://assetdelivery.roblox.com/v1/asset?id=ID&version=VERSION if you still want the old one for whatever reason.
Don’t think a spawn is necessary but other than that it looks awesome!
Amazing, it looks cool and interesting for developers to use it.
Looking very clean! The old baseplate may have lots of nostalgia but I think it’s worth it to have this as the default…
It doesn’t look bad at all, but I liked the simplicity of the baseplate before just because it only gave me 1 part to start with, and then I would add lighting stuff myself if needed. Honestly, I will prefer the original baseplate to the new one.
Thanks for the feedback, we are working on a procedural solution for skyboxes which may be a better solution long term.
You can publish your game, and then go into Game settings, World, and easily adjust the gravity and jump height there to set up the ideal settings for your game.
There have been some questions about the spawn point. When you first start to prototype/build a game, it is useful to know where you are going to spawn while testing your creation. Regarding the larger size of the spawn pad - if you are fortunate enough to have a popular game and multiple players are joining the game frequently, they can end up spawning on top of each other. With a larger pad they are spread out and are much less likely to spawn in standing on top of another player.
I’m glad to see this change! However, I’ll miss the old baseplate but I believe others will also give a positive reaction to this baseplate update.
But dont remove old baseplate, its iconic, make it Baseplate Classic or something
Looks like the better baseplate plugin
Ah, I see why spawns are so wide and big now.
Players on top of each other can also be solved by making them unable to collide with each other for anyone who wants to keep the spawn small but without any human towers for
The new baseplate looks cool. Fingers crossed both baseplate styles will always be available
It definitely looks really good and clean!
I Like this update… but i also don’t like something in it, the Baseplate feels really “unrobloxish” , it doesn’t look like Roblox. I Prefer the old lightning, old studs etc…
But on the other side, it looks REALLY good and modern.
i have a question, when you’re making a Roblox game in the website, in the template section, will it be “Empty Baseplate” and “Baseplate 2021” along with the other templates or the old Baseplate will be replaced by the new one?
It would be great if they where separated and not replaced
so in my opinion i think there should be 2 templates, Empty Baseplate and Baseplate 2021!
both are really good and i don’t see them getting replaced
Nice work! The new baseplate looks really better and will indeed help in building since the grids are better however,
Can you keep the old baseplate as an option of baseplate too? Many games uses the old baseplate to give a nostalgia feeling so it would be weird if it got updated all of a sudden.
This is the same to the new materials too, many games might look weird if the other materials arent an option too.
Very nice! But both of the ambient levels are too low by default. Shadows are far too black and harsh for being “outside”
Current levels (70,70,70):
Jacked all the way up to (180,180,180):
This is a good idea, I always have trouble setting up lighting when starting a new project, and this will add a good base for consistency.
I agree with this update!
This is a needed and awesome change—however, please do not add lighting effects. I use the baseplate as a blank template for my projects and I’m undoubtedly going to remove those lighting effects every time I open the template.
I appreciated this! Look like real life, good work to your team who did it.
