Next Gen Studio - Preparing for Takeoff! [Beta]

This was garbage before and it continue to be now. I really don’t understand why “refreshing” the UI (be it studio or in-game) and replacing it with an uglier, less efficient, less capable, and more bloated UI is your priority over working on features that actually improve the platform.

I’m sticking with the old UI for as long as possible, needless to say.

I see, thank you but this has some bugs. Mostly when I alt+tab or end testing it bugs out appearing on other windows in the background. For now alt tabbing again fixes the issue

I’m not sure if this is related to the new UI update but once in a while after playtesting Roblox studio would just straight up freeze and does not return into the normal editing mode. Closing the place does not solve the issue and I have to manually end the instance from task manager, its really annoying and has happened a couple of times after this update

Exactly this, they should be focussing on feature requests. There are so many feature requests in the devforum that are just ignored!

Roblox engine developers, yes you, listen to our feature requests even if it is radical, we need things that are just not in the engine! Just take a look inside the feature requests thread.

It’s not hating everything new or raising my blood pressure, but it’s kinda stepping on the toes of people (developers) who have invested plenty of time into something they’ve gotten so used to with no option to decline or opt out, no matter our situations/current needs.

Many developers (including me) are in the middle of working on projects, and a change like this will greatly decrease our workflow and cause unnecessary stress at this time. It would be more efficient for all of us to be able to gradually accept the upgrade by a long announced deadline.

A longer and announced deadline would give us developers to prepare for the inevitable, and the engineers to work on the plenty of bugs. You have to give people time to adjust at their own pace. It’s repulsive when it’s forced without any time to adjust and when it just abruptly disrupts our projects and workflow.

People who are ready to should be able to toggle the updated version of studio from now until then. It gives us all a chance to get used to it.

I agree, it feels like it was updated for the sake of updating. Especially since its forced which usually Roblox does when they do this.

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet because I haven’t read all of the replies but am I the only one who can’t find the find and replace button?

There is a keyword in one of my scripts that I now have to manually replace like 50 times, that could have been done in a few seconds in the old UI.

Edit: I found it. For those of you who are wondering, here it is:

I have no idea why roblox thought it was necessary to remove the button from the top bar, it would have been much better if they just left it in there instead of making it some random confusing arrow in the find balloon. This certainly wouldn’t be the first place that I would go looking for the find and replace feature if I needed to use it.

How do I turn on the legacy studio back?.. My studio lagged, I restarted it and now I has new UI.

It’s auto enabled in Beta for some reason, just go Beta Features > Next Gen Studio Preview can turn it off there.

I pointed this issue out when the beta first happened, but are we going to have the option to have file and other options back to their old place. As a mac user I have the top bar auto hide itself for every app, and I know many people that also have it that way.

This just feels like a way to try and be like Adobe softwares where you always have to have it visible to do simple tasks. It was nice before where you never needed to have it there to do anything that you did frequently.

The icons are really nice, and i like some of the new features, but i can’t ignore all the empty/unused vertical space. It’d be nice to see the space being used, as the buttons also feel really small and harder to click compared to the original.

noice
loving how this Next Gen Studio thing is coming along. Keep up the good work!

I agree with the other developers stating that this is more like a downgrade. I have a low-end PC, and I was hoping that the next gen studio would provide the stability to run 2 players at the same time on my game for testing purposes. unfortunately, performance has actually deteriorated to the point where i can barely test normally (one player on local server)

If they do move forward with this, at least add a classic mode so that developers don’t have to get used to the weird dropdowns and hidden features

sorry but i almost threw up looking at this, its thick, ugly , annoying, distracting and theres no way to minimize it like the old one. please revert this update immediately. nobody asked for this hideous, useless redesign

Why? You’re not really giving any advice/constructive criticism. How are they supposed to know you’re problems

Get this off my screen. Every time I launch studio it gets re enabled even when i explicitly disable it in beta features? And you try shove 2 AI assistant buttons in my face when I select text in the script editor? Whoever is managing development of studio… gosh
