What is MELON?

MELON or “Melon Development, Inc.” is a for-hire development firm that helps to bridge the gap between ROBLOX’s Metaverse and corporate marketing teams. We have been hired to work with prominent companies such as Warner Media, Supercell, ROBLOX Inc., JDRF, as well as many others.

Our Team
Currently the Melon Development team is comprised of a wide range of expert technological and creative minds with 3-10 years of experience in their field. Our core team consists of scripters, modelers, map designers, game designers, managers, sound engineers, and animators.


What are we working on?

We are looking to put together a “Call List” of skilled and professional team members of all types to join alongside our existing remote team, as additional staff bandwidth is needed. This means no immediate hiring will take place, but this is a perfect time to get your name on our roster and get to know our team and company a bit more!

Is this company a good fit for you?

Part-time availability is necessary for success on this team. We expect high quality work that follows the directions of our managers and game designers. English communication skills through typing or speaking are required. Professionalism is a major priority due to the type of clients we work with, however we do like to keep a lighthearted approach to work!

Work will range from simple content updates on existing systems to complete ground-up development and creation of new and unique spaces. No two projects are ever the same! As a result, pricing, timelines, and expectations of team members will heavily vary from project to project. Those who are hired will choose their ideal timelines, and provide pricing quotes on a project-to-project basis to ensure work is handled efficiently but with a high quality level.

We generally require our team to be 18+, but in recent times we’ve found skillsets in team members of all ages, so if you are 16+ and have a parent or guardian willing to sign contracts and provide tax forms on your behalf, we would be happy to chat!


Payment

All work is contract-based, and will be contingent on delivery of assets. We are capable of paying out via Bank ACH Transfer or PayPal. (International developers are welcome to apply as well, we have robust systems in place to assist with payment conversions.) We will offer an independent contractor agreement for you or your guardian to sign that will guarantee payment for the work you will perform with us.

Can you please provide some more information in regard to:

  1. What programmers would be required to code - is this a consultancy based position? Are we tasked to single tasks / assets / projects?
  2. Payment scales and/or percentages

If you want to work in a great, positive, professional and friendly environment, apply. I’ve been in quite a few development groups, but Melon Development is something I never thought would exist in Roblox, it’s truly heaven.

Melon Development works with many big & very well known clients. Working with Melon Development is an experience every developer should get, you meet many great people and get to work with such. 10/10

Code can range drastically from project to project. Anything from gun physics to basic shop systems, sometimes simulators / npc code. It’s way too broad to really pinpoint on specific type of code. Our project managers and game designers outline all tasks extensively so you know exactly what to be doing.

Payment scales are based on our team member’s quotes, and it comes down to how much you feel is a reasonable price for the work being done. We never operate on percentages.

I see. I assume this means that we’re paid on a per project basis, and it’s not a full-time salaried position? Similarly, sounds like you’re saying as a programmer assigned to consult on a project that you’ve accepted, we would be tasked to help you estimate the price based on the time and expertise needed for said project, which would then vary our salary for that project?

This is definitely an amazing job opportunity.

I’ve worked with a lot of developers and development groups on a wide variety of projects before, however, working with Melon Dev was definitely a new experience for me, a lot of fun, amazing co-workers, and an over-all highly professional environment.

Since I am from Libya it’s pretty difficult to find a place that can actually work with me and find a solution for payment, as Libya is extremely limited to options. However they worked hard with me to find a solution and were able to offer me a payment option, so definitely a great company :wink:

Depending on the project, we have annual agreements with some clients that would result in month to month payments – so partially yes to being salaried? Not out of the gate, but it really depends on what you’re working on.

For your second question - that’s mostly right. We assign a team to a project based on skillset required - and use your asking price as a determination. Gives team members the flexibility to make what they’re worth while also ensuring consistent, expected payments. :slight_smile:

I have 10 years of experience in original studio building, and so know all render engine tricks & 3 years in Modelling. They go hand-in-hand, and I can even say I also am really well acquainted with the Adobe Suite.
