Good questions!

If a party is just exactly the player limit of an experience, will it send everyone to a new server? What if the invitation isn’t accepted in time and a player joins? Will it be reserved for the party (of course, if developers allow servers to be reserved)?

When joining an experience via the party feature, our matchmaking service will place all users who have accepted the experience invite into the same server which may result in spinning up a new server in order to accommodate the party size. If you have a late party joiner (e.g. they didn’t accept the invite but later joins via the “Join” button), we won’t reserve a spot for them but we’ll put that user into the same server as the party if there is room (edited)

Will there possibly be a setting to accept join invites for parties you’re in automatically?

We don’t currently have anything like that in place but this is some good feedback!

Will there be notifications when any party member joins a game?

We also don’t have anything specific to party members joining yet. Just out of curiosity, is this something you would want at a Roblox system level for or just giving that information to the developer would be sufficient?

Welcome back, parties. Too bad none of my friends play roblox anymore

If a server size is 3 and you have a party of 6, then we only allow up to 3 people to accept the experience invite

I dont even have the new experience controls, why is this?

If a new server is created, will it be reserved for just party members WHILE the invite prompt is there, or will anyone be able to join? Will this affect games that have the join behavior set to “fill each server as much as possible” or something that isn’t Roblox Managed. (or whatever the option is called)

I meant, if a user other than the party leader joins a different game, would it prompt other party members to join them as well? (Possibly as a party setting, if you plan to add those, hopefully.)

But this would also be useful in the way you meant here,

This could probably be useful in both ways.

This is also slightly unrelated to parties, but do the join prompts for your party leader have anything to do with the invite notifications announced here?

If so, me and a few others have not been receiving these as of recent and cannot figure out why.

Aint no party like a Roblox party

Gonna make a lot more parents stop their kids from playing Roblox

I don’t know if anyone else is having this problem but the chat system on Roblox is very buggy right now and I can’t see new messages anymore and every time you start a chat it just disappears/

For some reason, the party app is not showing on the mobile app, do anyone experiencing this?

Will this functionality be added to the website chat menu? Having to open the desktop app each time means it’s less likely a friend will actually see the party and bother to join.

The party invite prompts that stem from a party experience are separate from the invites that developers can leverage via SocialService

Thank you ROBLOX for bringing back parties after wiping them off the platform in 2018. This is also going to be accessible via the website too, right?

Matchmaking for the party happens after the invite prompt completes. No spots are reserved for party members that do not accept and any open spots in the server are available for others to join. This behavior is not affected by Social Slots settings :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the clear answer! I (think, sorry if I’m being annoying) these are my last questions.

If the party leader is in a subplace, and the game teleports to a different place, such as the main place, will party members be prompted to join?

For example, a party leader dies in doors and returns to the lobby, will the rest of the party also be prompted to go? Judging from your last reply, the invite will also happen before any of them teleport, so when the leader presses the “return to lobby” button none of them will teleport until it prompts the party, correct?

How will this work for party members who are not in the app and instead on the website? Will it show in notifications, or not prompt them at all.
Will party chat work with chat channels? e.g. equivalent to /c system /team.

/c party or /party?

I don’t want to open the hamburger menu and press a button making me immobile to use party chat, I want to be able to use the base roblox chat.

No worries I’m happy to answer where I can

There isn’t a Roblox system notification or anything like that to prompt users to join other party members that are in a different place. However, once we release developer APIs pertaining to party, the developer would have sufficient information to make such a prompt if desired.

For now, users on web will only receive a system message in the form of plaintext in the corresponding thread

I feel like I’m misunderstanding how the invites work in the first place.

Will they only be sent through the app (through the “Join With Party” button seen in the video? (therefore only accessible on the app)

Will they be able to be sent out manually to members?

Will it automatically invite party members upon a party leader joining a game? (for website users)

Also, I edited my previous post with one more question, sorry for the excessive editing, I just keep thinking of more important questions after I already sent the post haha

Will there be a way to send videos or pictures in the party chat?

With the audio update and this posted almost in the same hour Idk how to feel anymore.

One of my questions is how are developers going to be able to use this feature.

They state it in the message you quoted. Developers will be able to make sure that members of a party are paired on the same team, etc. Possibly even let the party leader choose music to play for the whole party.
