Squidstar Arcade is hiring Developers

SQUIDSTAR ARCADE IS HIRING

Squidstar Arcade is a studio that I founded in April 2020, with the main aspect of the studio to create entertaining, intricate and exhilaratingly fun games on a budget for players to enjoy. Whilst conceptualising our first project, Bombshell has been a very slow and excruciating process - I can finally say that the project is ready to go and looking for developers to help assist us.

Over this time, we have gained a decent amount of people passionate about what we’re planning to do within our community of almost 60 Discord members so you would be working on a game people are looking forward to hearing about.

The current team consists of:

@Squidzyee - Studio Founder and Builder
@Ewanophobia - Studio Co-Founder and Lead Programmer

We are both developers who have worked on games in the past and know what it takes for us to launch a successful project.

Project Information

Now, you might be wondering what Bombshell is all about? Bombshell is a player-versus-player combat style game where players use explosives, and of course bombs, to wipe out others and to come out as victorious. With a style similar to that of popular Minigame places as opposed to other popular combat games on the front page, it aims to offer fast-paced, exhilarating action to all players who want to play either casually or competitively.

At the moment, our plan is to have around six maps completed for the launch of the game, with over 30 new bomb types possessing different abilities and everything programmed over the next few months. Depending on schedules and other eventualities, this may get pushed back but the ultimate aim is to have this project released by December 2021 as an ultimate final release date.

We use Jira to plan our tasks as opposed to Trello, despite both of them being on Atlassian.

Project Progress

As of this moment, programming is yet to be started but we already have some of the visual elements for the game completed, such as a couple of maps and some bombs. Feel free to have a look.

Hireable Positions

We are looking to hire developers within a couple of different positions, specifically contractors who can stick with us and help to make this game a reality. We would prefer to have younger developers on board (around the ages of 14-17) to match the dynamic of our studio.

Payment is also listed below for each position.

Animators

We are looking for an animator that can create unique looking animations for our game. Specifically, you will be making animations for throwing and other such animations that we need done. We will be able to give you a list of animations we will need.

You can do these animations in whatever way you want - however we would prefer the animations to be done within Blender. We have already made a post for this role in the past you may want to read here.

Payment: 1-2k Robux per animation OR $3-$7 per animation.

Graphic Designer

We are also looking for a prominent graphic designer who will be able to make us thumbnails and logos for the game as and when we need them. We will likely require a game logo and around one to two thumbnails at first, and then dependant on game performance, one of each per new update.

Payment: Negotiable but up to $30 per thumbnail, and around $15-20 per game icon.

3D Modeller

We are looking to bring on a Modeller to the team who will be able to take over the previous responsibilities of our old modeller. Most of your work will be to add extra details to maps by using meshes and creating other assets for the game, such as future bomb models for updates in the future.

With this position, since you will be working on the game quite a lot, we may consider giving a small percentage to you upon the release of the game for good assets and continuing to create new content. As the game is being developed, we will pay for each model or for groups of models.

Payment: Around 500-3000 Robux or $1-6 per model OR per group of models.

Application

Please feel free to apply for our Studio through one of the following methods.
Try to include as much information as possible when you apply, and provide relevant examples.

  • DevForum private messages.
  • Our Developer Interest Form.

Has your role not been mentioned?

We’re always looking out for new talent. If you think you have an interest in our project, but don’t work as one of the roles we’re hiring at the moment, feel free to fill out this application as well.
