Organization is a key part of a development workflow on any platform. With the rapid expansion of Roblox experiences as well as development teams on Roblox, Studio’s asset manager is becoming harder to keep organized when working.
The Issue At Hand
The Asset Manager in Studio is split up into 5 main folders: Places, Images, Meshes, Packages and Audio. With a large scale experience, these folders fill up extremely quickly and it gets to the point where things become unorganized when you have a large sum of assets. When you too many of one type of asset, opening the folder will not load the list by default.
How can this problem be solved?
Collapsible Subfolders
Just as if you were to create a folder inside of a folder within the Explorer panel although it would be in the Asset Manager panel! This feature alone would clean up the Asset Manager and solve this organization and workflow issue we currently face. It could potentially reduce load times as well if each folder was loaded separately when opened.
Color Coding
What's better than subfolders? Color coded subfolders! Color coding is a good way to visually improve a workspace and make searching for folders easier. Some examples of this can be found in Adobe programs like Photoshop with layer color coding and labels in boards on Trello.
Edit: I’d like to also point out that this idea of subfolders was originally posted by xSoulStealerx.
