Resurface is a FREE plugin that brings back the ability to set surface inputs (studs, universal, inlets, welds, hinges, motors, etc.) on any unlocked part.
Due to limitations, surface inputs may only be visible when the part’s material is set to base Plastic. Resurface will not override the part material for you.
Using Resurface
After installing Resurface, head to your plugins tab and select the Resurface plugin icon. From there you can select the surface type, and click on any face of any unlocked part to apply it, just like the original.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Resurface supports several keyboard shortcuts. While using Resurface, keyboard shortcuts will be visible in the top left of the viewport.
Default Shortcut | Action |
---|---|
CTRL/⌘ CMD | Apply to all faces |
SHIFT | Keep plugin active |
ESC | Close plugin |
You can also bind the plugin itself to a keyboard shortcut via the Customize Shortcuts window (FILE → Advanced → Customize Shortcuts...
and search for “Resurface”). This will activate the plugin and summon the surface selection menu to your cursor.
Motivation
As of Studio version 478, Roblox have removed the built in surface tool and deprecated surface inputs. This plugin will return the surface tool back to your Studio experience™.
Warning
Surface inputs are deprecated. It’s not recommended to use deprecated APIs; however, Resurface will attempt to fall back to applying surfaces as Textures in the event that surface inputs are removed.
