As a group owner of a 100k member clothing group, this really doesn’t seem beneficial to our businesses. Especially with the marketplace tax-cutting into our profits, and now it being a possible gamble to make a profit off of clothing isn’t very ideal for creators. Designers often make 50-100 Robux per piece on an average on a piece that doesn’t do too well, and with copied assets in the catalog, this is just another way to cut into small creators’ financial profit. This makes it only beneficial to the front-page catalog which is filled with copied assets. I’d really suggest reconsidering this as it harms a lot of people, or an alternative to help this not impact us as greatly.
There was a problem recently where people were getting a 100 Robux T SHIRT fee if they tried selling it;
Ok but what are we going to do about the already botted clothes?
It would take forever to clear out the back catalog of botted assets.
What if they put a 50R$ fee to keep your clothing.
Creating Shirts and Pants should not cost any Robux for anyone, just like how we can create T-Shirts for free without premium. As long as the clothing botters don’t put the clothes on sale, It’s not really a problem. Hence instead of applying fees when creating the shirt, they should apply the fees when putting the shirt/pants on sale.
Gonna say this. This has discouraged expert clothing designers of my team and they have turned in their notice when this feature comes out they will no longer be making items for others. This is honestly sad. I also see these discouraging new users from the platform from making items for Roblox. Most clothing groups sell at 5 robuxs and your probably gonna charge something above 75+ each upload on top you still going to take your percentage. Small clothing groups won’t be able to run ads on top of staying with trends.
Gotcha, thanks. I hope that’s just the price they assigned for testing, because that does seem pretty extreme.
Yes but this time you actually gotta pay to make clothes so its kinda one of the worst updates (for small devs who cant do commissions) .
Was endorsed before, NBC clothing groups existed, personal use outfits that were actually stealing from other designers, preventing income. It was taken down after a few complaints.
The people who don’t have 50 robux immediately? It would destroy the botted accounts, but people who use another account for actual uploads, would completely destroy them and any group that it’s connected with. Some may not even be able to afford it because many people don’t want to spend actual currency on an internet game just for having an imagination and wanting to sell assets on Roblox. Again, another point:
Botted assets and accounts would already have that to make up for the cost probably. Would be redundant, and would just screw over anyone who doesn’t have the money for it.
Well, this is a double-edged sword here. I like that Roblox is trying to set up a way to prevent copiers from copying clothing, but I see two major flaws here that could make it go bad.
One of these things is that this could potentially harm new designers and discourage current designers from uploading new clothing. I understand the fee, but I feel like 100 robux is too much. People who are designing who have little to no robux may not be able to afford the fees and be discouraged from designing. Additionally, it costs 1k robux just to upload ten shirts/pants/t-shirts, which many people can’t afford. And the profit from these clothing may not be a lot either, so the newer designers are losing profit rather than gaining it.
Additionally, what about the current people making lots of robux from copying clothing? They won’t be affected as they have enough robux from copying other designers. They can just pay the simple fee and then upload more copied clothing, get more robux, etc. This can definitely benefit a lot of people who are copying right now and making lots of robux, Even though it can prevent new ones, it will certainly let the current copiers copy and get more robux from stealing other people’s work.
In conclusion, I feel like this update will discourage many people from a designing career. Roblox, you are discouraging designers to design from this update, it isn’t helping the designers but rather the copiers. Get your game on or else nothing will be changed.
This can easily go either way honestly. If the price is too much then it’s going to completely ruin clothing designers because, especially with the current state of the catalog, you’d never get a return in profit on an upload. And this is still doing absolutely nothing to stop people from copying your clothing individually, to my understanding this is only targeted at bots.
Definitely discourages me, who’s been designing clothes on Roblox for several years now… I can’t see much of a future with this.
I AM A SMALL DEV. My profit this year:, 6k R$.
Most clothing designers are also artists, and with enough knowledge they should be able to make profit like me
But it wont. People will just load up botted accounts with the currency through group payouts, write a new script, and move on. It’s going to be the same thing over and over again.
to be honest there is no solution. Even if roblox put a captcha there is services that botters use to automate recaptchas. These botters make millions as well. A little 100 robux fee wont make a dent. It should be a max uploads per week based on HWID.
Yeah I just thought of that after someone under posted about it.
I don’t understand what is the point of Roblox Premium anymore, aside from Premium Benefits from games, premium has truly become useless. I know this is good for players who dosen’t have Roblox Premium this is not good for players who has Premium. Now all we have left is a monthly Roblox payout and we can Trade even though Roblox will never release Limiteds again. More and more of my friends have stop buying Premium since it is truly useless.
With 6k robux you can upload only like 60 shirts or 60 pants.
At this point of roblox’s update, knowledge dosent seem to matter for clothing designers, its the robux they need to buy in order to make robux.
Personally, I agree that small groups won’t be able to keep up. I feel like this update could be better off this way: Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements - #89 by Evenous
