Vietnamese Language now Available in Studio

Xin chào!

Today we are happy to share that Vietnamese is now a language available in Studio. To select this new option, open Roblox Studio, go to File > Studio Settings and search for the Language setting. You should see “Tiếng Việt” as an option available to you.

Enabling Vietnamese language in Studio

Studio translated in Vietnamese.

Now you can build, code, test and even use our AI-powered natural language Assistant in Vietnamese to create and insert scripts, explain code, and generate new materials in Roblox Studio.

Breaking down language barriers

This launch is part of our commitment to making Roblox more accessible by removing language barriers. In the past year, we’ve launched in-experience chat translations, expanded automatic translation for experiences, and localized the docs into seven languages.

Let us know if you have any questions or feedback.

I am glad to hear that they are now adding more languages to Roblox Studio!
I’m pretty excited to see what’s next to be honest at least in language options for Roblox Studio.

The Vietnamese language was not previously available within the studio ?

This sounds great and I’m glad Roblox is pushing to expand the accessibility of the Studio and the platform to more people in Vietnam. This sparked a question though. How can developers in Vietnam distribute games to foreign players with slightly different policies for each age rating?

As I review Vietnamese translations for Roblox Studio, I find some interesting choice of interpretation.

Here are my comments on the translation

  • Home could be translated as Nhà which is easier to recognize than Trang Chủ
  • Xem is somewhat inappropriate (no, not the vulgar kind) as it usually refers to watching film and other visual media more than viewing in general
  • Depending on how Roblox looks at the definition of testing, Thử Nghiệm can be shortened to Thử
  • Avatar could be interpreted as figure and passed on as Nhân Vật since it revolves around the work of characters

I am Việt Kiều so rather take this with a grain of salt. I am fluent in both languages, but that doesn’t mean I am always sure for people who don’t pick up on western technological terms. I don’t know if a human translator is behind this either. If they are, they’re probably correct. I only look towards more casual use.

Hello! I am a native Vietnamese and I will be sharing my interpretations!

Trang chủ: I think it is fine. I believe what Roblox meant by ‘Home’ is ‘Homepage’ which translates to ‘Trang chủ’

Xem: Roblox seems to translate these words literally so they are kind of awkward. The view tab itself is essentially for toggling what show up in your screen (explorer, properties, toolbox, output, grid, wireframe rendering, etc), so I propose ‘Chọn hiển thị’.

‘Chọn’ as in choosing what to toggle, ‘hiển thị’ as in what visual has been chosen to be toggled.

Thử nghiệm: The test tab is for the purpose of testing, so I believe ‘thử nghiệm’ has no problem. I believe ‘thử’ means more in ‘try’ rather than ‘test’ though. Thử nghiệm is a compound word, being combined by two smaller words, ‘thử’ and ‘nghiệm’, I think ‘nghiệm’ bring the users a sense of
‘experimentality’, ‘experientiality’ in it. Think about it: ‘Thí nghiệm’, ‘Thực nghiệm’, ‘Trải nghiệm’, ‘Tuyển nghiệm’, ‘Nghiệm thu’.

Avatar: I agree with you! Nhân vật is a great suggestion!

Please! Update: RootMotion and Size in Animation! Many developers will need such an update.

Yes, if you use Instance.New("Part") it will create a part that has studs on itself by default.

also another native vietnamese here!
for the “View” tab I think “Hiển thị” is enough
“Model” tab can be imo can be translated as “Xây dựng” but that can be a bit weird so take that with a grain of salt

Our goal is to eventually support all the same languages that the Player side does.

Thanks, now roblox will change it to not have studs.

It was like that for years, Roblox doesnt seem to have any problem with that so it will probably stay like that.

I reckon it could be appropriate since you have building-related features there.

Love to see Studio now have Vietnamese translation.
Because my English is not good, I hope Roblox will translate those texts below from ‘Statistic’ buttons in near future!
