Weekly Recap: January 27 - January 31, 2025

Hi Everyone

The year’s just begun, and we already have some exciting updates for you! ICYMI, we just had a Creator AMA yesterday, and this week we launched updates around Studio hangs, paid access experiences, Avatar Creators, and more.

Remember - we keep information at a high level within these recaps. For more information or to leave feedback, please comment on their official announcements linked below.

AMA

Creator AMA (2024 Recap) with Nick and Greg [January 30, 2025]

  • We answered questions from the community around our Creator Roadmap 2024: End of Year Roadmap and other updates for the new year.

Announcements & Updates

[UPDATE] Brand Developer Directory [Survey]

  • We are now live with new partner categories, Brand Media Partners and Brand Creator Partners.

[UPDATE] Occlusion Culling Now Live in Roblox Client

  • Occlusion Culling is now available on all platforms, including Android!

[UPDATE] In-experience Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) APIs now available in published experiences:

  • We’re pleased to announce an extension to the Roblox API. The GeometryService:CalculateConstraintsToPreserve() API now includes a new option called dropAttachmentsWithoutConstraints to control whether Attachments without Constraints are dropped or not.

Introducing the Ban API and Alt Account Detection

  • Clarifying an update we made about the Ban API management dashboard late last year.

Changing Default Search by CreatorName on Avatar Marketplace

  • As some of you may be aware, searching for items by creator name has issues on the avatar marketplace.
  • When creatorName is specified and creatorType is not specified, catalog-api will return creations from both user and group if both exist, or from either one if the other does not exist. Read more about our solution on the DevForum post.

Studio improvements to reduce the frequency of hangs

  • Over the course of 2024 we diligently worked behind-the-scenes to reduce the frequency of Studio session hangs for the community.
  • This year the team will continue to address additional categories of hangs via further modularizing of Studio critical application components for increased reliability, observability, and performance.

Building the Future of Roblox Home and Search: Introducing Personalized Discovery

  • We’re introducing personalized positioning to Home, starting with the “People You May Know” and “Continue” sorts, along with a new “Recently Visited” sort in Search.
  • This update is not changing the algorithm for “Recommended For You”. Instead, it focuses on how content is positioned and displayed on Home.
  • The “Recently Visited” discovery experience in Search provides users with a consistent way to quickly access their recently visited experiences.

Advertising paid access & restricted (17+) experiences

  • You can now promote your paid access and restricted experiences using Sponsored Experiences and Search Ads in Ads Manager.

[UPDATE] Update on Verified Badges

  • We have started issuing badges again for those who meet the qualifying criteria.
  • Paused issuing badges to group contributors as we’ve seen some abuse with group owners selling badges to group members.
  • Badges for group owners will continue to be issued.
  • If you meet the criteria outside of being a group contributor, you should see badges on your account soon.

Upcoming Launches for Avatar Creators

  • In the first half of 2025, we will launch new features to make publishing and selling avatars and avatar items easier, and to make discovering new looks and customizing avatars more seamless.

Release Notes

Deprecated Web Endpoints

Official List of Deprecated Web Endpoints

  • As previously announced, parent PINs and the Account Restrictions feature were deprecated on November 18th, 2024 as part of a suite of updates to parental controls and safety protections for our younger users. We intend to remove all parent PIN and Account Restrictions-related endpoints from the platform in the coming weeks.

Would you guys be able to introduced your Support Team to stripe? Because I lost my phone number for 2FA with my stripe account (which is needed to be connected to roblox in order to sell plugins, etc. for Real World currency)
Currently, when contacting Support, the tell me to contact stripe. How ever stripe tells me, that it’s an onboarded account and they cant make any changes, roblox needs to manage the account. They are also stating, that the roblox Support can reach out to them if they need help.

(Told all of this to roblox Support mutliple times, but still no help)

Would be great if you look Into this since I cant sell any paid plugins.

Never, it would be dumping millions into an app almost no one would use.

I think contributors towards UGC sales should be verified, there’s no issue with selling badges and it’s fair to the artist.
