We announced a lot of exciting updates as we gear up for Thanksgiving 
— Mesh and Image APIs available in published experiences, new Parental Controls to keep Roblox safe, sharing audio and video assets with your groups, and so much more!
This recap brings together all of our announcements and updates from the Developer Forum into one convenient post. By doing so, we hope it’s easier for you to stay up-to-date on the latest news and developments from Roblox.

Betas & Updates
[Studio Beta] Avatar Joint Upgrade: Enabling Physically-Simulated Characters
- With this update, setting up physical avatar interactions, like ragdoll effects, becomes significantly easier.
- This upgrade introduces force and torque-limited constraints directly into avatars, allowing you to create realistic, physics-driven movements effortlessly.
[Client Beta] In-experience Mesh & Image APIs now available in published experiences
- You can now publish experiences with the EditableMesh and EditableImage APIs. With this update, we do not foresee any more breaking API changes and you can confidently publish experiences with these APIs.

Introducing Updates to Our Safety Protections and Parental Controls

We are introducing significant updates to the built-in protections for our youngest users and easy-to-use tools to give parents and caregivers more control and clarity.

As a reminder of our July announcement, we are also updating our content access policies for users under 13. Users under the age of 9 will only be able to access experiences with a content label of “Minimal” or “Mild” by default.

We recently published updated policy guidance for our experience questionnaire to help keep our youngest users safe. Please remember to fill out the experience questionnaire for each of your experiences by December 3, 2024; otherwise, your experiences will not be accessible for users under 13. For more details, please refer to the “Next Steps” section.

Users under the age of 13 will no longer be able to directly message others on Roblox outside of games or experiences (also known as platform chat), and will need parental consent for direct messaging within experiences.
Now Live! Update Your Genre and Subgenre
- You can view and update your experience’s genre and subgenre in Creator Hub.
- Trending experiences will also start to show up in Charts under genre-based sorts, such as “Trending in Puzzle”.
Moderation Notifications & Appeals in Studio
- We have released a small but important update to Studio that will let you know if your account has received a moderation warning or ban.
- Our intent is to offer a faster way to appeal incorrect moderations so you can quickly return to creation and development work.
Updating TouchSwipe & Introducing TouchDrag Next Week
- TouchSwipe will behave consistently across all devices, and we’re adding a new TouchDrag API to support additional touch behaviors.
- If you are currently using TouchSwipe within your experience, there is no work needed on your end; this update should be similar to a bug fix.
Review Your Generative AI Data Sharing Preferences
- Update: You no longer need to accept separate AI Supplemental Terms in Studio. We’ve integrated the AI Supplemental Terms into the Roblox Terms of Use and your continued use of our service is your agreement to these updated terms. You can still set your data-sharing preferences in Creator Hub and when publishing your experience.
Introducing New Permissions to Creator Group Roles
- We recently rolled out many new permissions for your Group roles created in Creator Hub.
- This includes feature parity with many old permissions (such as avatar items, open cloud, and more), as well as some net new permissions around revenue management, assets, and experiences.
Introducing Roblox Communities
- Roblox Groups has been renamed to Roblox Communities.
- We’re also introducing more capabilities for community admins and moderators with the highly requested Ban User feature, renaming the Exile User feature to Kick User, and updating the Open Cloud API.
Asset Privacy and Permissions: Share Audio and Video With Groups
- You can now share your private audio and video assets with your groups.
- Group members can use the assets you share in any of the group’s experiences.
Platform Text Chat is coming to Experiences
- Update: We’re rolling out Roblox Chat (platform chat) in experiences after the test we announced last month
- As part of this launch, we are introducing a new Roblox Chat icon across mobile, web, and desktop.
- We also heard your feedback and are returning to a modernized version of the Experience chat icon.

Deprecated Web Endpoints
Official List of Deprecated Web Endpoints
- This endpoint will be fully removed in the week of December 2nd. Most of the endpoint’s functionality has already been suspended.
