Weekly Recap: October 28 - November 1, 2024

Hi Creators,

Hope you all had a fun Halloween! :jack_o_lantern::woman_vampire:t2:

This recap brings together all of our announcements and updates from the Developer Forum into one convenient post. By doing so, we hope it’s easier for you to stay up-to-date on the latest news and developments from Roblox.

Remember - we keep information at a high level within these recaps. For more information or to leave feedback, please comment in their official announcements linked below.

Let’s dive in:

Betas & Updates

[Client Beta] Future is Bright on Android is fully rolled-out

  • Future Lighting is now fully rolled-out to all Android devices as a Client Beta.

Announcements & Updates

Introducing FluidForceSensor: Enhancing Precision and Usability for Aerodynamic Design

  • This sensor allows you to measure forces, torques, and the center of pressure for aerodynamic assemblies, making it easier than ever to design, debug, and fine-tune your creations.

Accessory Adjustment APIs for experiences

  • You can now implement Accessory Adjustment in your experiences using the new upgraded HumanoidDescription API.

Migrate to TextChatService: Removing Support for Legacy Chat and Custom Chat Systems

  • Legacy Chat System will be removed, so creators must migrate by April 30th, 2025.
  • We’re updating our Community Standards to require that creators use TextChatService.
  • Starting November 30th, 2024, new experiences can not be created that use the legacy chat system.
  • If your in-experience chat is built using a modified version of legacy chat system or a custom chat solution not powered by TextChatService, you must integrate with CanUserDirectChatAsync (coming by November 15th) API by January 30th, 2025. This API checks whether a user can receive or send direct chats.
  • Clarifying our policy on moderating non-compliant experiences: We will prioritize auto-migrating first, disabling chat second, and, only as a last resort, restricting access to experiences.

How to Archive Avatar Items

  • You can now directly archive non-limited avatar items and bundles by selecting Archive in Marketplace from the three-dot menu in the Creator Dashboard.

DevEx Processing - Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday 2024

  • With Thanksgiving and the Winter Holiday around the corner, we want to inform you of some key dates that may impact your DevEx request.

Does iOS also have future is bright too? (I’m not a mobile player lol)

W addition. Debugging capabilities for aerodynamic forces should’ve been there since the start, but better late then never I guess.

UIDraggers are now correctly working outside Roblox Studio!!!

Until now, it only worked in the Studio, but I just tried it on mobile and PC, and it works great!

It does and has supported it for almost a year.

Wasn’t future supported on Metal graphics for literal ages now? Like I recall having future back in 2022 on my iPhone, before that I wasn’t very active on Roblox so I don’t remember.

Metal was supported at release in November of 2020, but only for Desktop:

But, I did find a post from October of 2021 showcasing (what I assume can only be) Future on iOS:

It could be I haven’t had a iOS device capable of Future until last year when I got a iPad with an A15 chip.

Hm. Well I’ll consider it then when I actually get around to adding mobile support for my games then. Thanks for letting me know.
