This week we launched some exciting things like the general availability of Thumbnail Personalization and major updates to our Avatar Auto-Setup Beta.
This recap brings together all of our announcements and updates from the Developer Forum into one convenient post. By doing so, we hope it’s easier for you to stay up-to-date on the latest news and developments from Roblox.

We’re releasing a major update to Avatar Auto-Setup beta with substantial improvements, including extended input model support, partially rigged models, automatic scaling, and more to help you streamline your avatar creation process.
After introducing the robustness and speed improvements to our new in-experience CSG API’s, we are now bringing the same set of improvements to Studio.
We’re sharing a very early preview of the new file syncing approach for Scripts we announced at RDC.
Our goal is to provide built-in support in Studio for working on your code as files, allowing you to use your favorite IDE and plugins in any Roblox project.
A follow-up to our announcement about the removal of the legacy chat system and the requirement for all creators to migrate to TextChatService by April 30th, 2025.
You can now personalize your experience’s thumbnails using multi-arm bandit (instead of A/B testing) to help you find multiple winning thumbnails in hours and to respect each user group’s preferences.
More love to the SurfaceAppearance property is always really good to see; I just hope there’s more plans to continue adding onto and improving it to make it more modern and up to par
As an example just for this post, I have to use FFlags just to disable most features related to grass. This gives a noticeable performance gain. I don’t know why they just release things with no built-in performance options. Most people who play Roblox are running on mobile or igpu’s and features like grass REALLY hinder performance.
It’s sad because (if on PC) I have to tell these people to edit FFlags and use Bloxstrap (for flags staying even if roblox updates) just for them to be able to play games at 60fps. We shouldn’t have to use FFlags for features that are essential to performance and should be built in.
There should really be performance options (advanced settings) separate from just a simple graphics slider if they’re gonna keep adding features similar to this. We’ve been asking for years, and I think EVERYONE can agree a graphics slider isn’t gonna cut it at this point.
Even if they don’t want this feature in specific to be disabled, there’s so many other things we need options for.
I just wish it was scriptable, even if it was slow, I need it if I wanna use this feature in my game, as worlds are loaded and unloaded with-in the same place.
