RigEdit - Create and edit animation rigs!

I’ve spent the last couple of days working on my first plugin. Finding a lack of any precise tools for the rigging of characters and models for animation, I decided to make my own. (previously, I would end up doing it completely manually because I’m pretentious)

In particular, I felt that many of the current tools had unintuitive and clunky interfaces, a lack of any real precision, and wouldn’t let you determine what the movement of joints was relative to.

To that end, I present RigEdit!

Features

  • Create joints between multiple parts at once:

  • Reset the positioning and orientation of joints:

  • Edit the positioning of multiple joints on the fly:

  • Align the movement of joints to different axes:

  • Change the precision of your joint movement to whatever you like:

I was literally looking for something like this in the catalog earlier today

Agh, I knew someone was going to eventually beat me to making this.
Great work!

That looks great! I’ll have to try it out. Does it include a way to name the joints while building the rig?

Think you’d be able to add a ‘Mirror Mode’?
It’d be super convenient for symmetrical rigs like robloxians and others.

Been looking for such a plugin a long time. Looks good so far!

I was just about to suggest a mirror mode, it’d help a lot

Awesome, I’ve been looking for something like this.

How would it determine what to mirror? I could see about implementing this if I can understand it better.

Also, thanks for all the support! Glad to see it isn’t helping me alone

Something similar to Blender’s mirror modifier
You’d basically have to do only one side, the other side will be mirrored automatically.

Still not entirely sure how this would be accomplished; thanks for suggestion though, I’ll see if I can make the movement easier to use such that you could accomplish something like this with the basic tools.

A paid upgrade of this plugin with new features is now available on the marketplace here: https://www.roblox.com/library/4486409103/RigEdit-Plus

Some upgrades in the paid version are:

  • Undo/Redo support
  • Weld editing
  • Toggle visibility and editing for Joints/Welds

This plugin is pretty great! Way better than Custom Character Creator (which appartently doesen’t exist anymore???) in my opinion. However i don’t feel like the Plus version is worth it. Still a really neat plugin!

EDIT: CCC is offsale actually

I just want you to know that though I have bought the paid version, I do not intend to use it.

I will forever use an un-updated version of the lite rig editor.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.

Good for the soul.

Edit:
I caved in and ended up using the paid version
has some useful features
would definitely recommend

Random question by chance can this be updated instead of using just Welds can you make it so it uses WeldConstraints?

WeldConstraints don’t need offset properties, so you don’t need this plugin for them.

Ahh, okay makes sense now, I hate to be picky by chance are you able to add it as an option?

Hey, this might be an odd request but could you add support for rotating motor6ds?

The lite plugin does not seem to be doing anything. No menus or options show up when it is selected
