Creator Roadmap 2026: Spring Update

Hi Creators,

With spring in full swing, we’re sharing our latest Creator Roadmap update. We’ve launched a ton of new features; while you can find a full list of what we launched below, let’s recap some of the highlights.

Pushing the Boundaries of Roblox’s Engine

You asked, and we delivered. Whether you’re creating in the classic Roblox style or building the next novel game, we want our engine to help you realize your vision.

  • Visual Glow and Detail: Emissive masks are now available for you to make your worlds glow. Roblox now also supports 4K Textures for highly detailed and complex models.
  • Realistic Soundscapes: Acoustic Simulation includes real-time occlusion and reverb, ensuring your audio environments react dynamically to the physical space of your games.

Bringing Your Idea to Life Faster With Assistant

As we’ve seen more creators use Assistant, we’re starting to see just how much it accelerates creation and helps eliminate the pressure of crunch time. We’ve upgraded Assistant in many ways, but let’s cover the latest:

  • Planning Mode: Assistant now has a planning mode that generates a task list based on your prompt, lets you review and tweak the steps, executes the work, and then validates the output with automated testing.

  • Procedural Models: With the new /generate_procedural_model command, you can instantly create procedural models that are highly configurable. Just by adjusting a parameter, you can change a procedural model’s geometry, color, or material in seconds.

Also, for the AI power users: Studio now has MCP support built-in and you can use your own key with external LLMs from Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI.

Advancing Avatar Creation

We also launched new features to expand Avatar fidelity:

Upcoming New Tech

While you can read a full list of what we added below, here are some highlights of what’s to come. In the coming months we’re:

  • Exposing Open Cloud APIs as tools available to Assistant and MCP (Mid 2026), which lets you bring the power of Roblox directly into external tools like Cursor and Claude Code.
  • Introducing some exciting UI improvements with StyleQueries (Mid 2026) and native UI shadows and glows (Mid 2026) to make developing high quality UIs easier.

Tackling Spammy and Cloned Games

Before we wrap up, let’s talk about a major community pain point: spammy and cloned games.

Since launching new publishing requirements last year, we’ve already seen a significant drop in spam on the platform. While we are updating those requirements soon which we expect will help, we’re also stepping up our efforts to tackle the problem in a number of different ways.

Over the coming months, we’re ramping up moderation against games that flood the platform by deceptively copying existing titles. Our goal is to make it much harder for bad actors to “piggyback” on your hard work.

We’re moving carefully to ensure we don’t impact original games (and sequels) or well-intentioned creators, so there’s no immediate action required from you. We’re just keeping you in the loop on how we’re approaching protections for original content and we’d love to hear your perspective in the comments.

Assistant / AI APIs

  • 4D Generation: Custom Schema and Behavior Library - Automatically segment assets generated with /generate (e.g. separating wheel meshes from a car) and apply predefined, scripted behaviors based on the type of object. (Mid 2026)
  • Expose Open Cloud APIs as tools available to Assistant and MCP - Surface Open Cloud APIs as first-class agentic tools, callable from both the native Studio Assistant and any MCP-connected client, such as Claude Code, Cursor. (Mid 2026)
  • Multiple chats and chat history in Assistant - Run multiple chats in Assistant to keep context organized, with chat history now persisting across sessions. (Mid 2026)
  • Assistant NPC Subagent - Use NPCs in Studio to test and iterate gameplay scenarios; this is currently in Beta. (Mid 2026)
  • Assistant skills + docs - Enable Assistant to read your documentation and follow your skill files to work more effectively in Studio, from understanding your game’s architecture to executing multi-step workflows like scene setup and script generation. (Mid 2026)
  • Game translation glossary - Enable you to define important terms and their corresponding translations. (e.g. game title, character names that are always in one language) These translations will be applied consistently across the game wherever the term appears, even within automatic translations. (Late 2026)

Avatar

  • Prompt-to-Animation - Use text prompts to produce new complex avatar animations or modify existing ones. (Late 2026)

Creator Hub

  • MessagingService insights enhancements - Provide per-topic metrics, clear indication of limits and how close your game is to them, and alerting rules. (Mid 2026)
  • Discover creator-uploaded songs - Surface eligible creator-uploaded songs in the “Top Songs” section of the Game Details Page. Currently, these only display licensed songs from distributor partners. (Mid 2026)
  • License Manager: Time-based licenses - Time-based licenses - IP holders can offer a license during a creator proposed time period. (Mid 2026)
  • Expand API coverage for top Creator Hub workflows to MCP - Expand API coverage and MCP support for top Hub workflows (e.g., update developer products/passes, managing configs, querying analytics) so creators can get work done across their favorite tools. (Mid 2026)
  • License Manager: Dev Product licenses - IP holders can offer a license for creators who restrict the IP to a Dev Product purchase. (Late 2026)

Analytics

  • Analytics for game chat and Voice - Review the number of users who have sent a message in chat, total number of messages sent, and number of users who have talked/listened in Voice. (Late 2026)
  • Age group analytics - Update age demographic reporting in Creator Analytics to reflect age checked age groupings, replacing current self-reported age data. You will be able to view metric breakdowns by specific age checked age buckets, and distinct segments of users who have not yet age checked. (Mid 2026)

Social

  • Global Cross Server Chat - Enable Cross Server Chat across every active server of a game between users of similar age groups. (Mid 2026)

FAQs

Why did you launch something that wasn’t on the roadmap?

  • The Creator Roadmap is not a comprehensive list of everything Roblox is doing (it’s hard to summarize what 2000+ people are working on!). Some examples of reasons why products may not show up on the roadmap are:
    • User-facing products that require no action from creators
    • Products that require us to coordinate or integrate with third parties, for example, Meta Quest and 17+ games. This can result in uncertainty in our ship dates or we may not be able to communicate in advance until the other party is ready.
    • Products we’re holding to announce at RDC
    • Products we aren’t sure are going to be impactful or have enough funding to hit their dates

Why did a feature slip past its target date?

  • We do our best to forecast realistically, but sometimes features take longer to ship than anticipated or other features take precedence. As some of you may know, software scheduling estimation is an imprecise art.

Why is an item that was shipped no longer on the roadmap?

  • To keep this roadmap forward-looking, we remove features from the roadmap that shipped over 6 months ago. This is not an indication that the feature is no longer being supported, but rather to keep the roadmap a reasonable length. You can always review past updates on the DevForum to catch-up!

Why is something on the Creator Roadmap site and not included in this DevForum post?

  • To keep this post short, we only include items on the roadmap that have changed; if they’ve been added, shipped, or delayed.

When can you re-launch classic faces and heads? They provide a far higher fidelity visual than the dynamic heads.

None of this AI stuff is useful to me
This is biggest thing that caught my attention

which sounds awesome, lets hope blur can make an appearance too!

I am curious as to why all the cool Engine features have been delayed but given the current issues, I can see why somewhat, I hate to see AI prioritized over actually useful things like CSG on meshes, Individually Rounded Corners, Improved physics solver and Enhanced voxel terrain. I hope to see more work done to the engine itself in the future.

Were the previously planned creator published animation packs cancelled? I hope not as I was really looking forward to that. They were mentioned in this post:

There’s no word on them in this post or on the Creator Roadmap site

Man I was so looking forward to that…

They should have some fast flags already out to try it out. They do have a blur radius property, but I don’t know about anything specifically to blur the instance itself. They also can be added via Instance.new("UIShadow")

I know this post mentioned some fast flags, although you’d likely require something like fast flag manager to use them. Here’s a few: UIShadow IndividuallyRoundedCorners5 FloatRadiusForRoundedCorners3 (might be outdated).

so moderation automation will mistakenly ban inspired work like all DOORS games, gg
what even happened to Pressure, I think it was gone for one day

concerned

so if someone makes an Avatar Editor game, would random Avatar Editor games disappear?

or are they talking about like idk, all “modded” games from an original game, like DOORS or Bee Swarm Simulator, 99 Nights in the Forest, etc.

Please prioritize everything in the Engine section, they have been delayed multiple times already…

Interesting updates. I recognize that the new Dynamic Heads are currently being worked on by Kestrel. When might we start seeing progress on them?

as much as i do appreciate the newer stuff being added, it really breaks my heart to see the assistant/ai apis being pushed infront of the engine updates.. as much as I can say about it, i can’t do much to change or push it out as i’m not really a prolific or evident creator/developer.

it is just a little saddening to see that something as important as updates to roblox’s engine is being sidebarred for late 2026 while there was 6 more things added to the assistant/AI section.

This should have happened AGES Ago - and all should welcome this - even tho poor planning/surprises & Ai moderation worries me.

Roblox has become like early Nintendo cartridges - “2000 in 1” - but are just different versions of maybe 100 Original games.

It’s good that you are doing MORE.. as the DMCA system was not enough - where the culprit just counter DMCA’s - and “Roblox stays out of it”.

But just to be “Safe” - these copycat/clones shouldn’t just be deleted - but in the meantime - maybe demonetized - or not show up on the promoted games & front page.
At least until it can be certain that these games are just clones - and not built on the idea - but Vastly different from the original - which should be allowed.

So it is welcomed to stop real clones - but don’t kill the variety out there that are really different in playability.

Hi!

For starters, this is a lovely changes of things to help communicate better so far. These are great changes to not rush updates through with things. ( Except all of the delays due to more priorities of this whole AI-Generation update spam is just like what happened w/ the Metaverse era sadly. ) but I’m glad that everyone can actually see the brand goals and actually communicating better towards it.

I do think however, though that these copycat/clones shouldn’t just be deleted but instead get shadowbanned (as in to not show up in the front page/ unable to promote ads or show in promoted games like so) to help with combating the issues of them. (And add back classic faces/heads too please lol.)

I think that’s probably all I can just say and give out feedback.

When are we getting Transparent & Emissive maps for UGC?

At this rate, I don’t think Roblox is interested in taking feedback, especially considering recent changes.

For things like that, we’ll have to use our own solutions, such as this:

This AI stuff isn’t exactly useful except for newer developers, but newer developers do still need to learn how to make stuff on their own, especially once AI becomes unviable.

You guys should honestly focus on adding the ability for RTX lighting for GPUs that can handle it. I saw the post about realistic stuff with AI, and that just ain’t it, nobody’s gonna use it. I am an older player, the exact type of player you guys are talking about catering to, and I can say this fact from fiction that the older generation wants actual games with actual graphics, not AI slop graphics made by AI generated games.

Get rid of the AI slop, then you guys will get a lot more novel games, and a lot of older users. It’s clear that everyone doesn’t want it, just take a look at Xbox and what they’ve done recently. They are getting praised by the older generation for removing AI. Maybe get your heads out of the gutter and take a look at that.

The stuff that isn’t AI though is really good, and I’m glad it’s been added in, but please, for the love of all that is holy, NO MORE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE!

Also, editing my post to add on something else:
The current Assistant is useless. A friend of mine tested to see if the Assistant knew anything about things like the WebAPI, and tested to see if it could differentiate between deprecated items and non-deprecated items. In most cases, it couldn’t do any of that. It also can’t understand what exactly the player is requesting, whereas other AIs can actually understand. If this Assistant is here to stay, it needs to be better at programming. It’s better at making brownie recipes than it is at programming (yes, we did test if it can make a brownie recipe and it can).

That really sad to see this just got delayed from Mid to Late 2026
i can’t wait to see beautiful mountains like this that made with TERRAIN and can look from far away without low quality right now D:

All this work on input action systems and general improvements for input binding. It would be really awesome if next we could bind and use more specialty devices and inputs for wider native support with specialised controllers, arcade, racing/flight sim, midi, pressure based/sensitive inputs including WASD binds as more keyboard models are receiving these capabilities. As well raw input (skipping OS for lower latency and better high poll rate support)
