Hi Creators,
We’re happy to share our year-end Creator Roadmap update. We’ll cover what we’ve shipped since our Fall update, update timelines for delayed features, and add new items to the Roadmap as we look to 2025.
Since our last update, we’ve shipped 17 Roadmap features, including:
- Mesh and Image APIs (Client Beta): Publish experiences using the EditableMesh and EditableImage APIs, allowing you to build more interactive and creative experiences.
- Studio Luau File Sync Preview: Sync scripts between Studio and your preferred editor. This feature is an opt-in preview, and we want your feedback on how it’s working for you.
- New and updated experience templates: Choose from new and updated experience templates including the Racing template, Laser Tag template, Platformer template, and Home Store template.
- Accessory adjustment tool: Adjust the size and placement of accessories on your avatar.
You can find a full list of launched features below and view the full Creator Roadmap here.
Driving quality, improving performance, and fixing bugs
Performance and quality continue to be two of our primary focuses. We’re constantly making improvements in these areas in Studio and in-experience. Since our last roadmap update in October, we’ve resolved 740 bugs sourced directly from DevForum.
A few highlights of high priority bugs we resolved and upcoming performance updates:
- Updated Type Solver: Improved Luau script analysis, including more accurate binary operator inference and new type operators. We’re aiming for a full release in early 2025.
- DataModel Isolation and Script Capabilities: We launched our first version iteration of this feature, with the ability to insert models with scripts into experiences and have those scripts isolated from modifying the world or accessing Roblox APIs that are not explicitly allowed. We’ll continue to add new capabilities in 2025 including integrations with the Creator Store that will provide visibility into what models can do.
- Type Inference for Native Compilation: Native Code Generation will use your type annotations to optimize and reduce the size of the generated native code.
Upcoming roadmap
While we continue to work on everything we announced at this year’s RDC, we’ve also added 21 new features to the roadmap. These additions are complementary to our goals of enabling you to create the content you want to build and helping your content reach more people on Roblox.
These additions include:
-
Acoustic Simulation (Early 2025):
- Automatically brings immersive soundscapes to life by simulating how sound interacts with materials and environments, with customizable options for added control.
- Sounds can more naturally echo (reverb), be blocked by walls (occlusion), and bend around corners (diffraction), adapting to unique structural designs.
- Provides easy settings to decide which sounds follow the simulation and adjusts how materials influence audio, thus creating richer, more realistic sound.
- Avatar Settings (Early 2025): Enhanced controls for player avatar size, collision, clothing and accessories to balance player identity with consistency and fairness in your experience.
- Player Script Packages (Early 2025): Player scripts will be put into a live-update package, which enables you to easily modify default camera and controls scripts and merge in the latest Roblox player script changes if they are forked.
- Translation Glossary for Experiences (Mid 2025): Enables you to create a custom dictionary to translate experience-specific terms consistently wherever they appear.
We’re also adding a new category to the roadmap — “Sunsetting legacy features and tools.” This category is meant to give you visibility into features or tools that are being removed. We’ve added Team Chat in Studio (removal date: Jan 30, 2025) and the Legacy Chat System (removal date: April 30, 2025). You can learn more about the removal of those features and how to migrate to our TextChatService in this DevForum post.
Additionally, we’ll be sunsetting support for Windows 7 and 8.1 in Studio in Early 2025. This means, in order to use Roblox Studio, you’ll need to upgrade to Windows 10 or higher. This is following a recent update to the Roblox app, where we announced with an in-app warning that we will remove support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for the Roblox app by January 15, 2025. We’ll also be adding a similar warning to Studio and we’ll keep you updated on when support will be effectively discontinued. We will provide at least 30 days of notice prior to removing support.
We hope you have an amazing holiday season and a happy new year!
See you in 2025

Studio Luau File Sync Preview - An opt-in preview for working on your scripts as files, enabling you to edit your code using your favorite IDE. As we shared at RDC, we didn’t get our first attempt right, so we are releasing an early preview of our next iteration soon to get your feedback on our new approach.
Studio and Engine Performance and Stability
- Type Inference for Native Compilation - Incorporating types added by Luau into the decisions made by native code generation which optimizes and reduces the size of the generated native code.
Engine can support any type of experience
- DataModel Isolation and Script Capabilities (Beta) - Ability to insert models with scripts into experiences and have those scripts isolated from modifying the world or accessing Roblox APIs that are not explicitly allowed. This makes it safer to use models shared by other developers and empowers in-experience creation, including scripting without impacting server state.

Provides easy settings to decide which sounds follow the simulation and adjusts how materials influence audio, creating richer, more realistic sound. (Early 2025)
Easy creation, optimized for your ideal workflows
- Performance Tooling - Additional performance tooling to enable you to accurately diagnose and optimize performance issues. (Ongoing)
Engine can support any type of experience
-
Haptics 2.0 - Haptics 2.0 enhances the haptic feedback experience by implementing effect-based haptics, providing improved haptic effects out of the box, and enabling you to create custom waveforms. (Early 2025)
-
Player Script Packages - Player scripts will be put into a live-update package, which enables you to easily modify default scripts and merge in the latest Roblox player script changes if they are forked. (Early 2025)
-
Avatar Settings - Enhanced controls for player avatar size, collision, clothing and accessories to balance player identity with consistency and fairness in your experience. (Early 2025)
-
Instance Streaming - Multi Replication Focus - For experiences with Instance Streaming enabled, this will allow you to designate multiple areas for streaming and simulation. For example, you could set critical regions of your map that you frequently move players so they’re never streamed out. (Early 2025)
-
Instance Streaming - Streaming Excluded Mode - For experiences with Instance Streaming enabled, this would prevent replication of models to all or some clients. This means you won’t need to hide instances under the camera or the PlayerGUI anymore! Additionally, if there’s sensitive state that might give one player a competitive advantage in your game, you’ll now be able to ensure that data isn’t replicated to that player. (Late 2025)
-
DataModel Isolation and Script Capabilities Improvements - We are adding new features to DataModel Isolation and Script Capabilities to ensure all APIs are covered. We are also exploring integration with Creator Store to improve transparency about what models downloaded from there are able to do. (Ongoing)
-
Server Authority (Beta) - We are building native support for Server Authority. If a Creator enables this feature, the server will become the single source of truth for game actions, logic, and data; this should reduce cheating and improve fairness. Due to the additional latency incurred from a server authoritative solution we are also working on techniques like speculation and rollback to keep games feeling super responsive for your players. This feature is early in development, and we’ll be running tests through 2025. (2025)
Grow and engage your audience
Break down language barriers
- Translation Glossary for Experiences - Enables you to create a custom dictionary to translate experience-specific terms consistently wherever they appear. (Mid 2025)
More ways to earn and advertise
-
Simplified ad creation flow - We want to make it easier for you to grow your experiences through advertising. This update to Ads Manager will simplify the campaign creation flow to help you achieve your objectives (Mid 2025)
-
Enhanced reporting in Ads Manager - We will add spend and engagement metrics to ads reporting for sponsored experiences and search ads to make it easier for you to understand the effectiveness of your ads efforts (Mid 2025)
Creator Hub is your key to success
Actionable insights to grow your experience
- Update Key Metrics Hourly - Update key metrics hourly instead of daily (e.g., acquisition, economy, funnel, custom events) (Mid 2025)
Collaborate more efficiently as a team
-
Experience-specific permissions - Configure the new granular experience permissions to specific experiences rather than all group experiences. (Early 2025)
-
External Group permissions - Provide permissions for your group content to external groups, as well as your roles. (Mid 2025)
Learn, connect, and create with one another
- More Experience Templates & Sample Content - Throughout the year, we’ll be releasing new and revamped experience templates and features for creators to reuse and build with. Keep an eye out for a revamped Starting Place where you can play and create. (Early 2025)
[New] Actionable insights to grow your experience
- Feedback Dashboard - Following a recent update that allows players to choose from a list of reasons and add an optional comment when rating an experience, we’re introducing a feedback dashboard with reports and analysis of feedback sourced directly from your users. More details are here. (Early 2025)
[New] Sunsetting legacy features & tools
Tools or features scheduled to be sunset
-
Team Chat is being removed from Studio - In keeping with our effort to drive safe chat on the platform, we’re removing support for Team Chat from Studio by January 30th, 2025, as it does not integrate with parental controls. We believe that creator team communication within Studio will be better served by the ability to annotate and add comments directly within the workspace. We plan to enable annotation and comments early next year. (Early 2025)
-
Legacy Chat System is being sunset - Starting November 30th, 2024, new experiences can not be created that use the legacy chat system. We’re updating our Community Standards 94 to require that creators use TextChatService, creators will have until April 30th, 2025 to migrate. You can read more on the DevForum post here on how to transition to TextChatService. (Early 2025)
-
Sunsetting support for Windows 7 and 8.1 - We are sunsetting support for Windows 7 and 8.1 in Studio in Early 2025. FAQs
Why did you launch something that wasn’t on the roadmap?
- The Creator Roadmap is not a comprehensive list of everything Roblox is doing (it’s hard to summarize what 2000+ people are working on!). Some examples of reasons why products may not show up on the roadmap are:
- User-facing products that require no action from creators
- Products that require us to coordinate or integrate with third parties, for example, Meta Quest and 17+ experiences. This can result in uncertainty in our ship dates or we may not be able to communicate in advance until the other party is ready.
- Products we’re holding to announce at RDC
- Products we aren’t sure are going to be impactful or have enough funding to hit their dates
Why did a feature slip past its target date?
- We do our best to forecast realistically, but sometimes features take longer to ship than anticipated or other features take precedence. As some of you may know, software scheduling estimation is an imprecise art.
Why is an item that was shipped no longer on the roadmap?
- To keep this roadmap forward-looking, we remove features from the roadmap that shipped over 6 months ago. This is not an indication that the feature is no longer being supported, but rather to keep the roadmap a reasonable length. You can always review past updates on the DevForum to catch-up!
Why is something on the Creator Roadmap site and not included in this DevForum post?
- To keep this post short, we only include items on the roadmap that have changed; if they’ve been added, shipped, or delayed.
